Yes, you can add lemon to the water without harming the bottle.  For hot water, a bottle with insulation characteristics would work better.

I bought 2 bottles. I love the fact that they have no toxins or plastic smell or taste. But they do have one drawback that would prevent me from buying any more. On both of them, the lids do not fit correctly. They leak whenever the bottle is tilted. And you don't have to tilt it very far for it to drip. I don't mind it so much if water is what I have in it but anything else becomes annoying & sticky.

The reason we changed the size of the water bottle is due to feedback from our customers regarding the convenience issues with the bottle. Having a smaller bottle is easier for people to take with them on the go, in the car, at the gym, in their purses/briefcases, etc. We are not planning on changing the bottle at this time, however we always suggest feedback.
